Wearing baby in a wrap, sling or structured carrier is a fantastic option for outings. It frees up space in your shopping cart, allows you to be hands free, gives baby awesome sensory input and is nice for bonding (added bonus, I can breastfeed my infant while prepping lunch for my toddler).  I started wearing both of my babies in their first days of life and both loved it once we found the right carrier.
The logistics of getting a newborn from point A to point B tend to be a bit overwhelming, especially when you’re a first-time parent. The good news: Travel system strollers can be a saving grace. The bad news: With so many to choose from, the options are often mind-boggling. We’ve narrowed the list down to our top 10 favorite car seat-stroller combos to help you find the travel system that works best for your lifestyle and budget.
Hi Evelyn, if you want to use both car seat and stroller until that age, you’ll want a car seat that allows for extended rear-facing. The weight of your child may be higher or lower than average. However, the average 3 year old is between 29 and 34 pounds, so if he or she falls within that range, you should opt for a 35 pound or more weight limit for the car seat. Most strollers will carry up to 50 pounds or more, so those should last a good while.

For the price, this is a good system, but don’t expect it to last through more than one child. The stroller is sturdy for those who are only going to use it for walking and travelling. For running, it may wear out faster. Always inspect every part as soon as you get it and contact the seller or manufacturer immediately if something breaks. The warranty on this system is also about 180 days, so you may have issues getting replacement parts past that time frame.
As a new mom I had no idea what kind of stroller I would want. We're a pretty active family, so I wanted something durable, handy, light but would last. I didn't register for this, we had gotten the Graco Jogger (which I love). After a couple of times using the jogger for daily activities (ball field, grocery, the mall, target, etc). I realized I needed a smaller, lighter stroller. I LOVE this thing. I'm gonna be sad when she grows out of it. It's so easy to use and fold up.. very light. Has great storage for a smaller stroller. doesnt take a lot of space in the trunk! I would totally say it's a must have for infants!
The Expedition Jogger comes with a swivel wheel that allows you to unlock the front wheel for easy low speed strolling. You can use the stroller for casual jogging by locking the front wheel. The swivel wheel allows for easy maneuverability. You can use the stroller on both rough surfaces and smooth surfaces, such as dirt road, side walks and malls.
We got this stroller base about a few months ago, I thought it was perfect since we already had the car seat that was compatible... OMG the struggle to open and close it! Seriously wish I still had the receipt to return it only used 4-5 times. We don't even use it anymore because it takes us longer to open and close it than it does in the actual store -_- I give this a 3 star because it's good for the price and it's cute everything about it is good just that the problems I named above are VERY VERY frustrating

We purchased this for our newborn and it has been a great car seat and stroller for us. He is now about to be 8 months and it still works and looks new as if we purchased it yesterday. As a woman, the one button, strap pull to close the stroller is so easy and helpful. When you're alone and juggling a baby, diaper bag, and car seat- the easiest and fastest things are the best!! The car seat easily clicks in forward facing and backward facing. Now that my son is older, he prefers to look out and see everything so this option is great. The base is a little heavy since we transfer the seat around to multiple vehicles, but that's the only con. I've seen customers complain about the small storage compartment, but I bought a huge carabiner that I hooked on the stroller handle and that ... full review

Folds so easy for storage or travel with the press of a single button. The oversize drop down storage basket adds extra  storage capacity and will come in so handy. This stroller has been a dream. It is by far the easiest assembly I've ever had for a stroller (it took just minutes to set up, and everything was extremely intuitive). It collapses down so it's easy to store in a closet or fit in a relatively small trunk. And the storage space! It's huge! I can fit a jumbo diaper bag, and my purse, and a snack bag, and shopping bags, and... I could go on. I do wish it allowed for larger kids since my 1 1/2-year-old will likely outgrow this in a year, but obviously, this is meant to start with infants. Still, I'm enjoying this stroller so much that I might just buy the next size up when the time comes.
Older versions had less headroom per seat, so toddlers’ heads often touched the top well before they outgrew the weight limit. The new version should be better with the upgrades, but keep that in mind when shopping. This new version also has limited colors available, so if you’re dead set on blue, you may be disappointed unless you opt for the older version.
The FastAction Fold Click Connect 30 is almost equal to aforementioned Sport Stroller travel system. Significant difference is, off course, with 4-wheel version – which, typically are less maneuverable than their 3-wheeled counterparts – and perhaps, as reviews are concerned, may have a smaller basket, perhaps due to distance in wheelbase in the 3 versus 4-wheel cart. However, this stroller comes nearly identical in available options, with the benefit of a reduced price tag. The Classic Connect 30 Carseat is also top rated and similarly produced with energy absorbing foam, 5-point harness and level indicator. Colors available: Nyssa, Farrow, and Finley.
Use a forward-facing seat that faces the front and has a harness. Use a forward-facing seat when your child outgrows the maximum weight or height allowed by the manufacturer of the rear-facing infant seat. Keep using a forward-facing seat until your child no longer fits in it. Some infant seats can be converted into forward-facing seats. See a picture of a forward-facing car seat.

“It was very easy to use. The base was easy to install and remove which is important when you’re using them in multiple cars. The infant carrier easily snapped into and released from the base and the stroller. We still use the stroller every day. My favorite things about the stroller are how easily it folds up and the storage compartment underneath.” - Lindsay R.
This system isn’t cheap, so those with a tight budget may want to look elsewhere. Some parents felt the stroller seat was too small and wouldn’t last through the 50 pound limit. Others felt the stroller was actually TOO lightweight to be sturdy while putting baby in and out. Some felt that the car seat was too difficult to attach and unattach to the stroller. A few felt the wheels and handle were flimsy and felt loose.

The stroller should be well constructed and not flimsy. Unfortunately some of the lower priced travel systems cut their costs by making the stroller from cheaper materials. The problem is that these strollers will not outlast your child outgrowing the infant car seat. This severely reduces the overall life of the product and you will not realize the savings of having a stroller that will last through their toddler years. Look at what the rating is for child weight on the stroller to make sure it will be usable after the infant stage. The stroller should also have a three or five point safety harness and comfortable seating for your child. As with the car seat you want to read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for maintaining the stroller properly to insure it remains a good safe product to use for your child.

The needs of the babies grow inevitably with time, which in a way poses a great challenge for the parents to accommodate for. The strollers today have become as important as milk is for them. Parents cannot imagine going anywhere with their newborn baby if they don’t have a stroller. A stroller facilitates them in order to manage their child and all his related essential stuff with ease. You must have seen many shapes of a stroller such as a single stroller, umbrella stroller or double stroller.
If you are only taking one small child to the Walt Disney World Resort, you only need a single stroller. But what if you have two children under the age of about five? You're going to need a double stroller for them. You don't have to have twins to be on the lookout for Disney stroller rentals that include double strollers. As long as the children weigh less than 100 pounds combined, any two can travel safely in a double stroller. I'm sure that you can imagine the possibilities, ranging from genuine twi...

This fun-looking travel system is super affordable and has great prints and patterns that parents seem to love. The well-padded seat on the stroller has multiple recline settings plus a removable large head support pillow that can also be used in the car seat. Parents like the padding and say the car seat straps are easy to buckle. They love the many compartments in the stroller, especially the bottom basket and the covered parent tray.

BRITAX infant/child seats can be used rear facing from 5 to 40 pounds (2.3 to 18.1 kilograms) and forward facing from 22 pounds and walks unassisted, up to 65 pounds (10 kilograms and walks unassisted, up to 29.4 kilograms), depending on the seat. High-capacity convertibles allow your child to stay in a five-point harness through the toddler years.

Snack trays and parent trays with decently sized cup holders are a real lifesaver for long outings. You don’t want to be stuck in the zoo on a hot summer day with no good place to store water for both of you. Having it right at hand will be very convenient. Of course, there’s always the chance she’ll play the “drop the sippy” game, but that’s where a second parent cup holder and extra storage baskets on the stroller can save the day.
We are travelling soon overseas which would require safety car seat for my son's car ride, so we will bring the infant car seat along with us, With this carrier it makes us much easier to bring the car seat with hands free when carrying luggages at the airport, etc. while my husband is holding my son. I wouldn't put my son in the carrier he is going to be 11 months and i don't think this carrier is designed for carrying baby in it. we could have bought some similar products like a car seat stroller but it costs a lot more and unnecessary as we no longer use this infant car seat for our car while he is getting little big. This is economical and ideal for travel i imagine.
The braking system felt a little awkward to some parents, especially when wearing sandals. You press it down with your foot to engage, but have to lift it up to disengage. One parent felt the wheels were a bit too small for uneven terrain. The carrier fabric lacks some breathability, so your baby could get sweaty in hot weather. Chubby babies or those who are on the high side of the growth chart may feel too cramped in this seat.

The first one lasted a few months. I loved it. Easy to maneuver, lightweight, I wasn't lugging around a big travel system like all the other mommies. Then the release handle jammed. This is not a part they can send out. I had to get an RA in the mail, buy a box to ship it in, wait for fedex to pick it up, then call to have it tracked so they could send out my new one without me waiting for the whole thing to process (that was nice). I got the new one a week and half later (a huge pain to be without). I assembled it last week, recycled the box on the weekend and now the same thing has happened. Less than a week later. I am so frustrated. It is still useable, but it is inconvenient. It takes two hands to slide the release mechanisms rather than one hand to fold and flip the thing open and closed. And I have a lot of stuff in my hands. At all times. I will be calling again, but I can't think of a satisfactory solution at this point. I need my stroller, and I need it to work.

The Chicco Viaro is a sportier model, one that fits in with your active lifestyle in style. It includes the very popular Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat, which topped our list with a 9.9 rating. It holds infants from 4 - 30 pounds. The stroller holds infants and children up to 50 pounds. The stroller’s open dimensions are 38.0” L x 25.5” W x 41.25” H. Folded dimensions are 13.5” L x 25.5” W x 33.25” H. The car seat is 22” L x 17” H x 24 “ W.

Love it! I dont leave it on my car seat for everyday use as I find it is harder to get the seat to click into the base....but that is just me. I used this for going on a trip and absolutely loved it....not sure what I would have done without it. I flew with my daughter with no other companions. I could carry the carseat, diaper bag and another bag and still had my hands free! Highly recommended!!!

Choosing a car seat is tough! There are so many options, and one look at the car seat aisle can make your head swim with weight limits and bells and whistles. So how do you know what the best seat is for your child? The safest seat is the one that fits your child, fits your vehicle, and can be used correctly 100% of the time. It’s important to look at the height and weight limits printed on the box, but they often do not tell the whole story. It is also important to note things like the height of the shell, and height of the harness positions, which will factor into when the child will outgrow the seat.

Without an infant car seat carrier, there IS a little more strategy involved when you're preparing to go on a new outing. Sometimes I do find myself in an unexpected moment of problem-solving. For example, when I took my 4 month old swimming without bringing our stroller and had to figure out what to do with him while I got dressed. But I have always been able to figure out a solution (I dried off while holding him as best as I could and then laid him down on both of our towels on the floor while I changed. The towels were going in the wash when we got home anyway!).
Both seats recline individually and have their own canopies and foot rests so you can control sun exposure, etc. for each child. The rear seat reclines all the way back into an infant bassinet. Both seats have a child tray with 2 cup holders each. Parents get some great creature comforts too, like 2 deep cup holders and covered storage compartment.
The B-Safe 35 is a fairly popular seat and scored 8.8 in our infant car seat ratings. It has two layers of side impact protection, a steel frame, and impact absorbing base. The B-Lively stroller (like other 3-wheeled models) is technically a 4-wheeled stroller, since two wheels act as the third front wheel. The swivel front double wheel adds to the stability when taking sharp turns through narrow places.
The Graco Relay model is one of the best for parents who like to pick up some speed when they are running and jogging, especially for those who run hills or sprints. It features the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35, which scored a 9.2 on our list. The seat holds babies from 4 - 35 pounds. The car seat weighs 7.5 pounds without the base and its dimensions are of 30.7” L x 18.7” W x 15.6” H. Stroller folded dimensions are 20.5" L x 33.5" H x 25.5" W.
Since I can't load toddler into his car seat while wearing baby, If I happen to be loading the car on a rare outing without a stroller I quickly place baby in her seat unbuckled, load and buckle toddler and loop back to get baby buckled in. I leave my car keys next to baby to remind me to go back and buckle her (since I have only 2 remaining brain cells left and could totally imagine forgetting to strap her in!).

This premium side-by-side stroller has many premium features you can’t find in cheaper strollers. True all-wheel suspension (not just front wheels), oversized UPF 45+ canopies with extensions, soft rPET polyester fabric made from 53 post consumer water bottles per stroller, and certified free of harmful chemicals. Adjustable foot rests keep little feet supported for no more dangling legs.
Other nice features are extra padding that can be added to the stroller for more napping comfort. Premium fabrics are self-wicking to help keep baby dry on hot summer outings. A self-standing fold, height adjustable handle, large canopy with flip-out visor and peek-a-boo window and ample storage make this a comfortable and efficient ride for parents and baby.

Four wheel car seat and stroller combos are the most popular option for families that are looking for a heavy-duty stroller that can navigate over a wide variety of terrain. They often have more accessories than the other types, including more storage space. These are best used in spacious areas like zoos, parks, easy hikes, malls and quiet neighborhoods.

There are endless benefits associated with a stroller carseat combo which will make your life a lot easier while managing your kid out in the open. This is a kind of addictive thing and once you entrust it as your prime facilitator then life would be really hard without it until your kid is big enough to walk on his own. The benefits of a stroller carseat combo can be relative to different parents, but nevertheless, they offer huge advantages with no one can ever deny.
Convertible seats. You can make this kind rear facing. Later, you can turn it to face forward as your child outgrows the manufacturer’s limits for rear facing. That’s a plus, since you can use it for longer. These seats also tend to have higher weight limits than the rear-facing-only kind. That’s something to consider if you have a bigger baby. But convertible seats don’t have a handle like the rear-facing-only ones, and they don’t have a separate base.
Travel systems were designed for these scenarios. Whether you’re going to the zoo, the mall, or just a walk around the neighborhood, a car seat stroller combo can be a real lifesaver. It frees up your hands so you can handle other kids or drink your coffee. It provides storage for diaper bags, shopping bags, drinks and snacks. It keeps baby protected from the elements. And it won’t put extra strain on your already tired body.
The fabric isn’t very soft and smooth as with other strollers, so it might not be comfortable or breathable for long trips. The covered compartment in the parent tray might be too small for some phones such as the iPhone 6Plus and up. Also, there have been quality control issues with some parts breaking or getting stuck on the stroller after less than a year’s use.
There are numerous things to take into consideration before making your purchase especially if you are new parents. Your first concern should be safety. Try and research online to find out which brands of car seat stroller combo offer things such as impact protection and distribution of crash force. Look to see whether the system you are considering has met USA safety standards or whether it has been top rated by any consumer magazines.
We used the Combi Coccoro seat with both of our babies and absolutely loved it. HOWEVER, it has very low upper weight and height limits and so we knew it wouldn't be the only convertible seat we'd ever own. My son is off-the-charts tall and outgrew the seat at around 11 months - thereby not saving us money in the long run over having an infant car seat carrier.
Custom combos. Sometimes a custom combo is the way to go, especially if you already have a car seat you love but need a stroller to go with it. Many brands like Graco and Britax have strollers that are compatible with several of their seats. Or you can often purchase a car seat adapter so your car seat will fit on a wide variety of strollers. Example: the Joovy Zoom 360 Ultralight Jogging Stroller can be used with a LOT of different car seats if you buy a specific car seat adapter.
The BOB brand was found as a neccessory brand for bicycle riders and morphed into one of the most reliable manufacturers of strollers – optimal for the active parent. Because of multiple advancements in their technologies over the years, BOB has become known for their smooth-riding strollers. The strollers standardly have pneumatic tires, rugged suspension for all terrains, adjustable handlebar, 5-point harness, swivelling (and lockable) front wheels, rear brakes, total seat recline and more. This carrier model is certified for air travel, constructed with energy absorbing foam for safety, with level indicators on their adjustable car seat base. Colors available: Orange, Navy, and Black.
Take the Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Click Connect Travel System, $300. The stroller in this duo makes CR's top-picks lists, proving to be easy to use and maneuverable enough to earn a score of Excellent in that test. But the car seat doesn’t score well enough for us to recommend, in part because our expert testers found it harder than others to install properly.
I knew how hard the temptation would be to let my sleeping babe remain in the seat on outings and even in the house. I knew that it would provide an easy seat to keep baby in on stroller walks, errands, restaurants and friends’ homes. I also knew that we would need to purchase a convertible seat in the first year of baby’s life anyway and saw that skipping the infant seat could save us some serious money (read on to learn why it didn't)!
I'm using this with a Safety 1st Onboard 35. The basic concept is pretty good... but this really does not work with a larger car seat. Don't know how it would be with a smaller one, but for a 35 pound capacity bucket seat, it's downright unsafe. Once, when I did not have a good grip on the seat itself, it pivoted, and if my baby hadn't been strapped in he would have been on the ground.
This system is a great option for families on tight budgets who don’t need a ton of features. It includes the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 30 infant car seat. The similar Graco SnugRide 35 rated 9.2 on our list. As for the weight and height limits, the car seat fits babies from 4 pounds to 30 pounds and no more than 50 pounds for the stroller. Unfolded dimensions of the stroller are 27.5” L x 41” W x 22” H. Folded dimensions are 28.5” L x 18.5” W x 22.5” H. Car seat dimensions are 26.7” L x 17.5 W x 24.2” H.

With a car seat stroller combo, you have the ability to securely strap your baby into the car seat carrier in your home. You can then carry baby to the car and snap the car seat into place. When you reach your destination, you can unsnap the car seat from the base and snap it into place on the stroller. Throughout this you didn’t need to disturb your infant by having to remove them from the car seat to put them into an infant stroller or carriage. This provides much less work for you and more comfort for your child.

As a classically trained chef and an enthusiastic DIYer, I've always valued having the best tool for a job—whether the task at hand is dicing onions for mirepoix or hanging drywall. When I'm not writing about home products, I can be found putting them to the test, often with help from my two young children, in the 1860s townhouse I'm restoring in my free time.
